    Many dieters don’t realize that gaining or losing weight comes down to the amount of calories you consume each day and the activities that you do that burn calories off. There is no other magic involved. One of the most important diet tips is to set a specified amount of calories to consume each day so you can make sure that you burn more calories than you take in. Counting calories is extremely easy. Most food products found at your local supermarket have labels that tell you exactly how many calories a specific serving of food has. You can plan your day accordingly, only eating 1200 to 1500 calories. At this rate with some regular exercise, most people can usually lose about 2 to 3 pounds a week.

    Another great diet tip is to stay away from empty calories. We eat and drink plenty of types of foods and beverages that are full of calories but add little to nutrition. For instance soda has lots of empty calories, sometimes 150 calories per can. Drinking 3 or 4 cans of soda per day can be almost as much as a full meal.
